After facing a shortened rehearsal calendar, including no usual summer band days or band camp, the Blue Coat Regiment Marching Band had its first of three performances for the season at the varsity football team’s home game against Haines City High School this past Thursday.

Students and staff have been following strict COVID-19 protocols, including the mandatory wearing of face coverings except when actively playing a wind instrument or eating and drinking, and maintaining physical distancing while playing in the stands and on the field. Additionally, while playing indoors, all instrument bells are covered to further limit the spread of airborne droplets.
The night was a great night just for the Band Program—whose students were eager to perform and show off their hard work—but also for the Sharks football team who brought home a blowout victory over Haines City 40-0.
The Blue Coat Regiment will perform next on Friday, October 16 against Sarasota Riverview High School. That same night will also be the school’s annual Senior Night where the class of 2021 will honor its students who are members of the marching band, cheerleading team and football team.
